Notes: I got my chevy luv from my cousin in the bay area as a birthday gift. its a 2wd shortbed with a newly rebuilt automatic tranny and a rebuilt 1.8l l4 bored and stroked to 2liters. Drive it everyday and must say this could be the most reliable truck ive ever had, concidering the vintage. plenty of pictures to soon follow. |

Notes: It's a 1982 4x4 2.2 Diesel. I put Isuzu Rodeo rims with 235x75r15 BFG Mud terrians, a chrome brush gaurd, a s-10 rear bumper, then cranked up the torsion bars and added '78 mustang II leaf springs to the rear pack. My dad "customized" the grill when he had it. I have a lot of mods that I want to do, thinking about a frame swap to a blazer or later model Isuzu pickup. |

Notes: I did a V8 conversion when I was in High school back in 1982 on a 1976 Mikado. I sold it when I was in college and gas was a $1.76/gal. I sold it in 1985 and bouhgt 1973 VW Thing, better gas milage. I still own the thing but resently bought a 1980 2wd with no floorboards and a bent valve on the G200. Now I have 3 1980 luvs 2-2wd and 1-4x4. My specialty right now is saving the rusty non working luv's from the junk yard. I am sure the three I have now were very close to beiong scrapped |

Notes: I own a 1980 short box 4x4 Luv. I bought it for a $120 and towed it home in the fall of '06. It had been sitting for at least a decade. It took weeks to fire it up as i had to replace all igntions. I even had to syphin the gas out which smelled horrible and was green as anti-freeze. I got it to fire and drove about ten miles while it smoked before the carbuerator took a dive. Over winter it sat until I could locate a carb kit to rebuild. Now its spring and it just sits there. I need help to restore this truck into a lowrider. I want to make it a 2WD and put escalade rims on. I want to lower it all the way. Its going to be a long ride but I leave for basic training in the end of summer of '07 so I want to hurry, so please if anyone has any advice please email me! |

Notes: My 74 LUV appeared on the cover of Truckin' Magazine in June of 1985 and won many trophies at car shows. It was able to launch down the ΒΌ mile in the high 10 second range. It was stolen while parked in front of the National Lumber Store at Spring Street and Palo Verde Avenue in Long Beach, California on April 27, 1985. Never to be recovered. What can be seen in the photos is the result of five years of hard labor. With exception to the engine/transmission building and the mural on the tailgate and the lettering on the side it was a completely home grown project. The following is a short list of the modifications: Turbocharged 350 V8, Narrowed Jag rear end, extensive chrome plating, many body modifications, narrowed 1978 Trans Am dashboard, tilt steering column, polished aluminum firewall and floor pan, Oak hard wood bed floor. There are many more items that were modified and a close inspection of the photos will reveal more than I have described. An unusual item was that one of the forward Jag Rear End support rods passed through the gas tank (a tube was welded through the gas tank to allow the rod to pass through and still hold gas). Have you seen this LUV it has been missing for 22 years? |

Notes: I am seventeen and this is my second luv. Its a 78 short bed. I found it on Craigslist in august of 2006 and i am slowly but surelly turning it into my dream truck. It was all stock when i got it, of course with the exeption of the typical wear and tear. I lowered it about two inches, put some eighteen inch ricer looking wheels with adapters, and instaled a weber carb. But this summer i want to C notch my frame and lay it to the ground with air bags. I also want the stock wheels. Its a work in progress so keep cheking up on it, thanks for looking! |
