LUV: 74
Name: Mike McAlister
Location: Long Beach, CA USA
Forum Name: turboluv
Notes: My 74 LUV appeared on the cover of Truckin' Magazine in June of 1985 and won many trophies at car shows. It was able to launch down the ¼ mile in the high 10 second range. It was stolen while parked in front of the National Lumber Store at Spring Street and Palo Verde Avenue in Long Beach, California on April 27, 1985. Never to be recovered. What can be seen in the photos is the result of five years of hard labor. With exception to the engine/transmission building and the mural on the tailgate and the lettering on the side it was a completely home grown project. The following is a short list of the modifications: Turbocharged 350 V8, Narrowed Jag rear end, extensive chrome plating, many body modifications, narrowed 1978 Trans Am dashboard, tilt steering column, polished aluminum firewall and floor pan, Oak hard wood bed floor. There are many more items that were modified and a close inspection of the photos will reveal more than I have described. An unusual item was that one of the forward Jag Rear End support rods passed through the gas tank (a tube was welded through the gas tank to allow the rod to pass through and still hold gas). Have you seen this LUV it has been missing for 22 years?
