Notes: My truck is totally stock, all original, hub caps and everything, and blue. Looks just like the picture in the Haynes DIY repair manual, older and worn of course. I also have a 79 under restortation (it has 56,000 original miles) and a 79 4x4 and plan on getting a 4th that is all original also. |

Notes: I found this 72 luv in the recycler mag for 750 bucks..I went to look at it and it was covered in white house paint, (YES COVERED WINDOWS AND ALL)..with a laddar rack and a utility bed..but I still saw the potential it still had..and also felt bad for the truck..now has a chevy 350 and a turbo 350 trans with a ford 9 inch rearend that I narrowed 14 inches that has disk brakes. I have also fabbed parts to accept 5 lug disk brakes in the front as well. Greg Weld prolite wheels, aluminum radiator, trans cooler and fan.I narrowed the frame 12 inches and built a cage along with an aluminum bed cover and wheel tubs. My goal for this truck was to have a clean street truck that was reliable but yet still be able to have fun on the track with it. For my first LUV project it has been tough finding parts, but it was worth it and beeing a full time fabricator made the build alot easier and cheaper(not as cheap as I thought..you guys know how it goes..where do you stop!)I just recommend to all, do it right the first time and you will have exactly what you want in the long run. Special thanks to my family and friends for the help as well, and for my girlfriend for patience on all those endless nights working on my truck!! |

Notes: The body of this truck is in exceptional condition, one dent in the rear bumper. All glass is intact, and without cracks, the 1.8 litre engine has an after-market Weber carb, (won't pass a smog test), and is an exceptional candidate for restoration or other fixup. It has a surprising amount of power, since the air pump, and and smog equipment has been removed, (along with the catalytic converter). I even have 2 original hub caps. The truck is water tight, with canopy, and a few issues are; the driver's door needs aligned or maybe new hinges, the bench seat is pretty much shot, and the dash padding needs replaced. I just did a tuneup, and added some bardahl engine restore, as the valve seals are starting to go, just got to keep an eye on the oil after every fill up. The mpg is in the 20's, and overall, it compares favorably with my Isuzu Diesel 4WD pup, without the headaches of 4WD, (and better mpg too actually). |

Notes: Just picked up my new Luv truck. Had a 79 4X4 back in 1980 and loved it. This new truck belonged to a co-worker who owned it for the last 20 years. He really didn't want to part with it but I convinced him that I would take good care of it. The truck is very clean and straight with no rust. The engine is a 350 that's getting bored 60 over. OMP racing seats, B&M shifter, VDO gauges. |

Notes: I have a 1980 Luv Mikado that I bought on eBay. I have owned several Luvs in the past ond got the Luv fever again when I saw this one. It is very clean. Only minor surface rust in areas. It has a clean frame. Its an automatic and it shifts smooth. It has cold, working a/c. I have Herculined the bed, floor pans and dash. I have also added a tool box. Future plans include bucket seats and a new stereo system. I have a Cobra nightwatch CB to add soon. I just painted the valve cover and air cleaner Chevy orange.
Still have the original hubcaps and 14" wheels and tires, but new tires and wheels (15") will be added soon. I love the Luvs and hope to find a stepside to add to my collection. I also have a 1962 Chevy C-10 Stepside that I am working on as well. |
