Location: Lawndale, CA USA
Forum Name: Mor2LUV
Notes: Greetings everybody, I present to you my 1972 Chevy Luv P/U. I was originally hired to install a motor mount kit for a SB chevy V8 in this truck for a friend and one day I was just passing through the neighborhood and I seen it outside with a for sale sign on it. I whipped a u turn immediately and spoke with him, needless to say I'm now the proud owner of this vehicle. It sat without a motor, transmission, or rear end but otherwise the body was all intacked, and a great foundation to build from. I immediately tracked down a GM 12bolt truck rear end and bought it. I stripped the axle tubes down completely ridding it of all the old brackets and hangers used for the other application. I Sat it on new spring perches and welded them in place. I gutted the diff and installed new stuff like bearings, axle seals ,and a yoke. I installed an Eaton LSD with 3.08 gear ratio. I installed the rear end to make it mobile to be towed to it's new home. I built a 388 stroker and had a buddy of mine rebuild the turbo 400 truck transmission I scored from another buddy of mine. He prepped the slush bucket with all the premium goodies and a shift kit with a 2000 stall speed converter. The new heart transplant is on hold until I finish plumbing the brake system. I was at the auto swapmeet and picked up on a dual diaphram vacuum booster and a dual cup master cylinder. I mounted the unit so now I have to create a new hydraulic system to feed the front disc, yep swapped out the drum brakes up front. In the rear, I went through the rebuilding phase of converting an american 1/2 ton rear end to work in this metric mini truck. Everything had to be replaced, shoes, wheel cyclinders, and the brakeline. When all the hardline has been fabbed to connect to the master cylinder, bled and adjusted, I am very certain It will stop on a dime. It's an on going prodject so stay tuned for Project Mor2LUV to come. I welcome all input,However,I do need help finding body parts, like lower rear portions of the front fenders and floor pans on both sides in front of the seat, the rubber door seals, window belts, and window channel. Does anyone have any sources, I would sure appreciate and welcome a helping hand by furnishing me the information needed. email me the details at StepSidei@aol.com again thanks. Peace!
