LUV: 1980 Daily Driver
Name: matt reichert
Location: Portland, OR USA
Forum Name: reichert
Notes: My 1980 LUV came into my hands more ghetto-rigged and beat up than a lot I see on the road, but despite it's appearance and maintenace/repair needs, it almost always gets me where I need to go and isn't bad off road either. Wish I had 4 wheel drive- It would do pretty much anything with that. People always underestimate what this truck can haul! It's awesome not having a payment and being able to do all my own repairs. Many people are impressed it's still running at 250,000 miles, and I'm proud to keep it on the road.

LUV: 1979 Daily Driver
Name: A.J.
Location: Albany, MO USA
Forum Name: Juice
Notes: I aquired a 1979 Chevy LUV 4x4 last summer. I paid a bargain for the little machine. I was unsure about the body because it is a stepside. Obviously a Chevy stepside but it seems about 6inches longer than usual and the tailgate looks way different and has no chevrolet inlay stamp. It has the 1.8 liter 4 cylinder gas motor, 4 wheel drive, 4 speed. It is primer gray in color at the moment but was originaly Red inside and out. It was made out of two Luv trucks laying in a junk yard. But that stepside bed still puzzles me. It will be finished by late spring but will be on the road soon hopefully before new years.

LUV: 1979 Daily Driver
Name: Peter Loichtl
Location: Snohomish, WA USA
Forum Name: Hammerman
Notes: My 1979 Luv came to me in 1993 and i have now Driven it on and off every since, In 1990 i replaced the old worn out 1.8 liter with a much newer 2 liter engine witch runs great and uses almost no oil in between oil changes . Also i have replaced the clutch 3 times since i have had the truck i think i can now remove and replace the transmission blindfolded. I am very demanding on my vehicle and i slowly have adapted the truck to haul heavy loads with ease. I made a custom lumber rack for the back where i can carry up to 20 foot long lumber with ease. And installed 1/2 ton overload springs in the rear also recently installed Load mister rear shocks that further improved the load carrying capacity. Last week i hauled .76 tons of gravel for about 25 miles at freeway speeds and the truck ran and handled the weight absolutely wonderful. Drove without any sqirliness and was rock steady About 2 years ago the Snohomish River flooded and my Luv sat in the water up to the windshield for about a week. About 2 Weeks after that i drained the Riverwater engine and the Transmission drove the truck for a few hrs then drained the engine and tranny again drove it again for a few hrs and everything has bin fine since then.
