Notes: I have two '75 Luvs taking up my carport. The red one, soon to be repainted blue and white, I bought in '03 for $800 from a neighbor. It was stock and in great shape. In '06 I found another '75 on Craiglsist for $250. It is mechanically good but rusted all over the cab. I use it for parts now. I put a '79 1.8L in the shop yesterday to be rebuilt. I'd do it myself but I don't have time. The plan is to hook it to an Isuzu 5-speed and bolt the new powertrain in the driver. I want to paint it navy blue and paint the dimple down the side off-white or antique white to get a retro look like the Fords of that era. It will be a daily driver when I'm done. I've been on Luvtruck.com before as 'Matador' and 'Bullit' but my hotmail account won't open and that's where I hid my password. So, I'm back again. (Write your password down and print a copy of all your email contacts if you haven't)
It's early May and I will have the truck on the road by early June with the old 4-speed if I have to. This is a first gen/second gen motor swap. I'll post pictures as I get the work done. Also, I will be making a $50 A/C unit that should get some attention from all the other Texas Luvtruckers who are interested. |

Notes: I have the 1975 Mikado version in that real nice pea green color. I call her Swee' Pea (from Popeye). The bed is rusted out and she only runs on 3 cylinders. She was a farm rig, but nowadays she reliably gets me to work and back. I rescued her from a roadside sale for $200.00. Another couple hundred in electrical components got her going. I'll rebuild the motor when I'm rich and famous. It's amazing how many people want to buy it "as is" because they had one 30 years ago. I'd like to find some original seats, sun visors, dashboard and steering wheel, but they seem scarce. My favorite feature? The backsloping "underbite" look of the front end--very cool. |
