Notes: Like the man said, "I LUV my LUV," and I LUV mine all the more since I converted it to electric. I managed to squeeze 17-6V deep-charge marine batteries under the bed and 3 more under the hood for a 120V system. It has a top speed of 55 mph, with a range of 50+ miles per charge. We use it mostly as a grocery-getter and fun rides. It's still a work in progress, needing paint, bed cover, etc. I started the project at age 70, 6 years ago. I'm and old hotrodder, so I've aquired the welding and metal-working skills to do all the work myself - I just had to learn about high-voltage DC electricity - haven't been shocked yet. My car club plaque goes back almost 60 years in Culver City, CA. I'm a founding member and also designed the plaque as a teenager way back when. The club disbanded many years ago, but there's still a few of us geezers around. You don't have to LUV it, but I hope you like it. P.S. The hood scoop is functional, it cools the motor controller. |
